PURCHASING A KITTEN
Purchasing a kitten is a big deal. We ask of all prospective buyers that they are able to spend enough time with their new pets and that they do own their home. Also please understand that these cats must be INSIDE CATS ONLY.
Care should be taken to limit the Sphynx cat's exposure to outdoor sunlight at length, as they can develop a sunburn, similar to that of human exposure. In general, Sphynx cats should never be allowed outdoors unattended, as they have limited means to conserve body heat in colder temperatures, and their curious nature can take them into dangerous places or situations.
These kittens are very rare and go extremely fast! Place a deposit. If you do place a deposit and would prefer to wait through all the litters until you get the kitten you want, that is fine too. To reserve a kitten you must place a deposit of $300. The deposit is non refundable and goes towards the full $1,500 purchase price of your kitten. Please contact me before you send your deposit. Your deposit can be sent easily from the Paypal button located on the left stationary bar. If you do not have a Paypal account I can provide you with simple instructions on how to create one. I will not accept any money orders due to recent money order scams. The rest of the balance can be paid in person cash or deposited directly into my bank account at Bank of America.
We prefer not to ship our kittens but are willing to offer the service in certain circumstances. Shipping is at buyer’s expense. I am willing to drive your new kitten to your house depending upon distance. This service will cost extra. Contact me for details. It is preferable that the kittens be picked up from our house in Orange County. All kittens will be sold as pets only unless breeding rights are arranged and paid for.
All kittens sold as pets are spayed/neutered before they go to their new homes and are $1,500. All kittens sold with breeding rights are $3,000 and potential buyers must meet special requirements. Odd-Eyed kittens are extremely rare and are $1,500 in addition to the purchase price. All deposits are non-refundable and go towards the purchase price of the kitten.

Every baby born here at OCSphynx is unique and very important to us. Our kittens are raised under foot and treated as members of the family from the day they are born. Because of this we are very fussy about their lives once they leave home. We insist that none of our kittens ever be allowed to roam freely out of doors. This exposes them to countless dangers from cars, disease, other animals, poisoning, etc.
We insist that none of our kittens ever be declawed. Declawing is a horrible mutilation involving the amputation of a large portion of the kitten’s toes. Declawing in most cases will alter a kitten’s personality and cause undesirable side effects. There are good alternatives to declawing which we would be more than happy to discuss.
We strongly recommend against giving the FIP or FeLV vaccines. These vaccines have not been proven effective, and are not necessary for an indoor cat that is not repeatedly exposed to other cats. The administration of either of these vaccines will void our health guarantee.
All of our kittens are sold without breeding rights. You have six months from the date of purchase to show me proof of spay/neuter. If proof of spay/neuter is not shown within six months of purchase we reserve the right to seize the cat without refund. We treat our babies with the utmost love and respect, and insist that you do the same. Therefore, they are all sold on the following contract:
Limited Health Guarantee and Contact Terms
1. Buyer accepts the responsibility of caring for this kitten\cat, and will provide properly for its welfare.
2. Buyer agrees to keep the kitten\cat in a clean and pleasant environment, uncaged and with proper nutrition, health care, toys and companionship.
3. Buyer agrees that if the kitten/cat is found to be neglected or mistreated, Seller shall have the unconditional right to reclaim the kitten/cat WITHOUT refund of purchase price. Neglect shall include, but is not limited to: being left alone without human companionship for periods in excess of 72 hours; lack of proper sanitary facilities; being caged; poor diet; poor health (that is not being currently treated) and otherwise poor condition. Mistreatment shall include, but is not limited to: lack of proper food, lack of water and physical abuse.
4. Buyer agrees that this kitten\cat may not be declawed, and understands that declawing is a mutilation and a cruelty that is likely to alter the kitten's temperament and health. Seller can not insure the temperament or health of any kitten\cat which has been declawed. Instead of declawing, the buyer agrees to keep the kitten\cats toenails trimmed regularly, and to supply the kitten/cat with proper scratching material and suitable training.
5. Buyer agrees that this kitten was purchased as pet quality, and unless altered before sale, must be spayed or neutered before the age of seven months. Buyer assures and guarantees that this kitten/cat will not be used for breeding or stud services.
6. Buyer agrees that this cat will never be allowed out of doors except in a proper carrier or enclosed "run" which is protected from predators and infection from other animals.
7. Buyer agrees that this kitten/cat will always receive prompt, top-notch medical care and will never be allowed to harbor fleas or other parasites. Should medical care become necessary at any time, the buyer will bring the kitten/cat to a reputable licensed veterinarian immediately.
8. Buyer agrees that under NO circumstances will this kitten/cat EVER be sold, leased, or given to any pet shop, animal shelter, research laboratory, or similar facility. Furthermore it is agreed that transfer of possession, or care of this kitten/cat to another party may only be done with express written permission of Seller.
9. Both Buyer and Seller agree that the cat described herein is unique in character.
10. Breeder guarantees the health of the above mentioned kitten/cat for 3 days from the date of deliver. This kitten/cat is guaranteed to have no internal/external parasites, fungus or contagious disease. Breeder advises buyer to have this kitten/cat examined within the 3 day time frame by a licensed veterinarian. Failure to do so will result in this health agreement being null and void. If your vet finds a life threatening disease or congenial defect, and you wish to return the kitten/cat, you will need to return the registration papers, vaccination history, and a written statement for the vet stating the diagnosis. Claims must be made within the 3 day period as stated above, and are subject to our veterinarian’s inspection.
11. It is further agreed by both Buyer and Seller that this guarantee of health is void if the buyer has the kitten vaccinated for FeLV or FIP. These vaccines are very stressful to the immune system of a young kitten and are not necessary for the continued health of an indoor-only cat who doesn't have repeated contact with other cats. In the case of the FIP vaccine, it has proven ineffective against most strains of the corona viruses associated with the disease.
12. If this kitten/cat dies an untimely death due to a genetic defect within the first year of ownership, Buyer and breeder agree to replace this kitten/cat with a kitten of equal value at such time as one becomes available. Buyer must provide breeder with a detailed autopsy from a licensed veterinarian stating the cause of death. The autopsy certificate and veterinary report expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer is responsible for arrangements and costs to take possession of their replacement kitten/cat. Warranties will not be honored if ownership changes or if offspring has been kept or sold for breeding. Breeder will not be responsible for deaths due to FIP if either the FIP or FELV vaccines are given by buyer or buyer’s veterinarian to this kitten/cat.
In signing this document, Buyer acknowledges that he/she has read, fully understands, and agrees to all of the terms and conditions of the above sale.
